Crime, Anti-Social Behaviour and Community Safety

Basildon CSP Strategy Group has overall strategic responsibility for making sure that the objectives outlined in this strategy are delivered, providing strategic direction and control to the CSP whilst ensuring that resources are made available to ensure delivery.

Tasking and Co-ordinating Group work to the strategic direction identified by the Strategy Group, performance managing delivery against action plans and allocating resources accordingly. This group retains its decision making powers and has responsibility for performance management, formation of Task and Finish Groups, risk and financial management.

Local Delivery Groups enable partners to focus on specific themes and form the basis for a greater understanding of the local context and influences, availability of resources and identification of gaps in service provision. Short, medium and long-term strategies will be developed going forward, based on national, county and local need. Identified lead officers are responsible for developing action plans, driving delivery and reporting performance to CSP Tasking & Co-ordinating Group on a quarterly basis. Task and Finish Groups will be formed to tackle emerging trends as they are identified. Task and Finish Groups will operate under a clear remit and be accountable to Tasking & Co-ordinating Group. Community Safety Action Zone (CSAZ) enables partners to focus activity in a specific geographical location highlighted as experiencing particularly high levels of crime and/or anti-social behaviour. The geographical area will remain a designated CSAZ until partners feel they have addressed the identified issues and responded to community concerns. CSAZ is accountable to CSP Tasking & Co-ordinating Group. Integrated Offender Management Group links together information held by various agencies to create a broader picture of the Boroughs most serious and persistent offenders, tailoring activity to each offender aiming to change their offending behaviours thus reducing re-offending.
